NEW DELHI: FMCG shares closed higher in the Wednesday's session.
Vadilal Industries(up 6.79%), ADF Foods(up 5.19%), Varun Beverages(up 2.95%), Heritage Foods(up 2.55%), Jyothy Labs(up 2.46%), Umang Dairies(up 1.47%), JHS Svendgaard Laboratories(up 1.31%), Mrs Bectors Food Specialities(up 1.11%), Tasty Bite Eatables(up 0.56%) and Bajaj Consumer(up 0.46%) stood among the top gainers.
Nakoda Group(down 4.98%), Dodla Dairy(down 4.94%), Parag Milk(down 3.86%), Gillette India(down 1.96%), Euro India Fresh Foods(down 1.94%), DFM Foods(down 1.88%), Dabur India(down 1.46%), Zydus Wellness(down 1.31%), Prataap Snacks(down 1.17%) and Emami(down 0.89%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 42.7 points up at 17388.15, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 214.17 points at 58350.53.
Tech Mahindra(up 1.94%), Infosys(up 1.46%), Tata Consultancy(up 1.45%), Titan Company Ltd(up 1.32%), Asian Paints(up 1.28%), Hero MotoCorp(up 1.1%), Bharti Airtel(up 0.92%), ICICI Bank(up 0.86%), Reliance Industries(up 0.84%) and Cipla(up 0.76%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki(down 2.33%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 2.21%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 1.78%), Tata Motors(down 1.77%), Coal India(down 1.46%), UPL Ltd(down 1.12%), Hindalco Industries(down 0.99%), IndusInd Bank(down 0.84%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 0.77%) and UltraTech Cement(down 0.73%) closed in the red.
