Five arrested for attacking bar owner in Bailhongal

Belagavi: Bailhongal police arrested five people after they attacked the owner and an employee of Greens Garden Bar and Restaurant in Bailhongal with a knife and belt late on Monday night.
The owner of the bar and restaurant and another employee were injured in the attack. The accused attacked their hand and back with a knife. Police arrested the accused within three hours of the incident and produced them in a court on Tuesday morning. The court remanded all five in judicial custody.
SP Sanjeev Patil said that a similar attack had taken place in the same bar and restaurant in April. The accused had attacked the owner and had snatched his gold chain. Following a police complaint, eight people were arrested for dacoity and attempt to murder.
The same accused attacked the bar’s owner again on Monday. The SP said the accused started quarrelling with the owner for registering a complaint in the police station in connection to the incident in April and later attacked him with a knife and waist belt.
The incident is being investigated, the police said.
