VADODARA: A teacher of M S University’s Faculty of Technology and Engineering (FTE) has been barred from examination duties for two years.
The action against Dr Gaurang Joshi of FTE’s department of civil engineering has been taken based on a report submitted by K K Vaishya, retired joint district judge.
MSU had appointed an inquiry committee under Vaishya to probe allegations of Joshi’s untoward conduct in the examination and the re-evaluation process of students.
In 2016-17, there were allegations that Joshi, an assistant professor, had tried to influence the examination process by calling a teacher to favour a student.
A faculty-level inquiry committee was constituted. After that committee submitted its report, the university appointed another committee under the retired joint district judge.
“The report had certain observations. Based on the report, the syndicate members have decided that the teacher will not be allowed to accept any examination-related duties for the next two years. The teacher will be assigned teaching and other administrative duties,” MSU’s officiating registrar Dr K M Chudasama said.
