Jaipur: Rajasthan Squash Academy girls and boys cornered glory at the Kundanmal Jain Foundation Rajasthan State Closed Squash Championships, which concluded at Rajasthan Squash Academy at the SMS Stadium on Sunday.
Out of 12 titles at stake in variou categories, the trainees of Rajasthan Squash Academy claimed seven titles.
Jaipur’s Mohnish Mohunta won the men's title by beating Jodhpur’s Dev Ram Choudhary 11-7, 11-4, 7-11- 8-11, 11-9. In the women’s open category, Riya Sisodia beat Riddhi Seth 11-4, 11-1, 11-3 to claim the title. Living up to his seeding in boys under-11, Fareed Andrabi made short work of Havish Khetani 11-4, 11-1, 11-4 to claim the title, while in the girls under-11 final, Divyanshi Jain had to fight hard to overpower Shashwi Raman 12-14, 11-5, 11-3, 5-11, 11-8.
Shorya Sharma sailed past Sahjot Wazir 11-6, 11-3,11-8 to win the boys under-13 crown. Lavanya Sodhani beat Khyati Tiwari 11-2, 11-5,11-3 to wrest the girls’ title in the same age category.
Chief guest Rajasthan State Minorities Commission chairman Rafeek Khan gave away the prizes.
Surbhi Misra, head of the Rajasthan Squash Academy and director of the tournament said, “Apart from large participation from Jaipur, there were big contingents from other cities of the state, especially Jodhpur,
