Shares of Tata Motors(up 6.58 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 6.29 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings(up 4.9 per cent), MRF(up 3.74 per cent) and Ashok Leyland(up 3.52 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, TIINDIA(down 2.83 per cent), Escorts Kubota(down 0.57 per cent) and Eicher Motors(down 0.16 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 3.27 per cent up at 12953.65.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 181.8 points at 17340.05, while the BSE Sensex stood up 545.25 points at 58115.5.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 38 ended in the green, while 12 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, , Zomato Ltd., and were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Metro Brands Ltd., , , and hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Bombay Rayon, , , Ltd. and hit their fresh 52-week lows.
