KANPUR: Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (PSP) national president Shivpal Singh Yadav on Sunday said that since the Samajwadi Party (SP) has made him independent, now he will strengthen his party.
“My party will fight the 2024 Lok Sabha elections with full strength and enthusiasm” he said.
Shivpal, who was in the city to attend a couple of private functions on Sunday while talking to the media, said, “There is no need to tell anyone that he is free now. He was free even before. The party will now appear in a new and changed form.”
When asked why as a SP candidate he did not vote for Presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha, the PSPL national president said that since Sinha had insulted Mulayam Singh Yadav then how could Samajwadis vote for him (Yashwant Sinha)? “As the President does not belong to any party, he must be elected unanimously," he said.
On contesting the elections in alliance with the BJP, Shivpal smiled and said, “Only time will tell”
