MADURAI: A 25-year-old guest worker died on Monday after falling off the fifth floor of a building being constructed for the Kalaignar Memorial Library in Madurai.
The deceased worker has been identified as Iqbal, 25, from West Bengal.
The worker, who suffered severe injuries after falling off the fifth floor of the building, was rushed to Government Rajaji Hospital where he was declared “brought dead.”
The body was sent for postmortem. Police were investigating.
Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin laid the foundation stone for the Kalaignar Memorial Library in January this year. The construction is expected to be completed in 12 months. The 2.04lakh- square-foot library in memory of late chief minister M Karunandhi will have eight storeys. It would be the biggest in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu. The library is being constructed at a cost of Rs 99 crore.
