Chess played 60 feet under the sea off Chennai

CHENNAI: Diving school Temple Adventures, run by S B Aravind, decided to celebrate the Chennai Olympiad in its own way -- by indulging in a game of underwater chess.

A couple of divers and instructors, as well as Aravind -- who donned Thambi the knight headgear, veshti and paired it with his diving paraphernalia -- went underwater for a game of chess move the last weekend.

"We did this to encourage our chess players. We played at a depth of 60 feet under the sea off Neelangarai," says Aravind.
