The 2022 Commonwealth Games began on July 28, 2022 in Birmingham, United Kingdom this year. The international sports event for the members of the Commonwealth of Nations will go on till August 8, 2022. Here we list down the Indian medal winners of the Commonwealth Games 2022 so far.

Saikhom Mirabai Chanu - GOLD

Saikhom Mirabai Chanu lived up to everyone's expectations by winning India the first Gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022 (CWG)! Mirabai Chanu lifted 201kgs in total and won a gold medal for weightlifting, in women’s 49kg class. Previously, Mirabai Chanu won a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Jeremy Lalrinnunga - GOLD

Jeremy Lalrinnunga made India proud by winning a Gold medal for weightlifting in men’s 67kg class. This was Jeremy Lalrinnunga's CWG debut.

Achinta Sheuli - GOLD

Achinta Sheuli also won a gold for India for weightlifting, in men’s 73kg event. The West Bengal boy, Achinta Sheuli, also marked his debut in CWG this year.

Bidyarani Devi - SILVER

After Mirabai Chanu, Bidyarani Devi is another weightlifting star hailing from Manipur. Bidyarani Devi won a Silver medal for weightlifting in women’s 55kg class, thus making India proud.

Sanket Mahadev Sargar - SILVER

Twenty-one-year-old Sanket Mahadev Sargar won a Silver medal for weightlifting in men’s 55kg class. According to Sports Star, weightlifter Sanket Sargar was sold paan four years ago. 'It was in 2019, a year after Sanket had first decided he too would make it to the Commonwealth Games, that he started making a mark at the national level,' as per the report.

Gururaja Poojary - BRONZE

Another weightlifter, Gururaja Poojary won a Bronze medal for India in the men's 61kg class.

'India women's cricket team defeated Pakistan in the must-win group game by eight wickets. It was followed by the men’s hockey team's thumping 11-0 win over Ghana in their opener,' reads a report by Outlook India.
