Mumbai News Today Live (August 1): Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari apologised for his comments about Mumbai losing its financial capital status if Gujaratis and Rajasthani people leave the city. His remarks had created a row across the state.

Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut has been sent to Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody till August 4. “I am proud of Sanjay Raut. He is real Shiv Sainik. He did not bow down to the pressure and those who did are not with us. Those who bow down to the pressure cannot be Shiv Sainik,”said Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray on the MP’s arrest.

Actor Salman Khan has been issued an arms license after he applied for a weapon license for self-protection in the backdrop of threat letters that he received recently. Sources in Mumbai Police had confirmed in June that police patrolling outside actor Salman Khan’s apartment at Bandstand in Bandra (west) has been increased and security given to the actor has been beefed up after a threat letter was found near his residence. The letter reportedly stated, “Salim Khan, Salman Khan bahot jald aapka Moosewala hoga k G.B.L.B (You will become like Moosewala).”
