House passes KMC, Jal Kal budget amidst chaos

Kanpur: Amidst chaos and sharp word play, the house on Saturday passed the budget proposals of Rs 13.75 billion (Rs 137590.57 lakh) of Kanpur Municipal Corporation (KMC) and Rs 2.68 billion budget proposals of Jalkal for financial year 2022-23.
The budget proposal is likely to generate expected revenue. The actual income of KMC was Rs.100103.14 lakh in December 2021 and as per the revised budget for 2021-22 it was Rs 144306.22 lakh.
Samajwadi Party corporator Suhail Ahmad raised some objections but instead of any discussion on them, arguments began between Congress corporator Kamal Shukla alias Baby and Samajwadi Party corporators and the treasury benches tapped their tables and said the budget had been passed.
Chaos rocked the house when Kamal Shukla claimed that the budget was not passed. The corporators of the ruling party and the Congress gathered near the well amidst world play and shouting. He said he was ready to divert his MLA fund for reconstruction of the hospital building.
