VARANASI: In order to achieve academic and research excellence, Banaras Hindu University has undertaken a massive exercise to make the university administratively efficient.
Vice-chancellor Prof Sudhir K Jain has constituted a three-member Administrative Reforms Committee comprising very senior and seasoned former bureaucrats of government of India to suggest ways for making the complex administrative and functional structure simple, efficient and practical.
According to the
BHU spokesperson, Rajesh Singh, the committee, chaired by the former secretary Pawan Agrawal, has former deputy Comptroller & Auditor General, Parag Prakash, and former joint secretary of the
ministry of Education, RD Sahai, as members. The joint registrar of BHUm Dr. Sunita Chandra is the secretary of the committee.
The committee members interacted with various stakeholders including the directors of institutes, deans of Faculties, senior functionaries of the university, administrative and financial heads and officers, faculty members, Ph.D scholars and students and representatives of BHU schools. The committee members sought to understand the challenges and obstacles in smooth administrative and financial functioning of BHU and discussed possible solutions.
The VC reiterated the need to have a robust and responsive administrative structure of the university in order to save precious time and efforts of faculty and students which may otherwise be used for achieving academic and research excellence.
