KANPUR: A sub-inspector of police and two constables were suspended on Friday by the senior superintendent of police (SSP), Etawah after a video of a statue of Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, kept in the toilet of the Chaubiya police station premises in Basrehar area of the district, went viral on Thursday.
In this case, a complaint was made to SSP Etawah, Jai Prakash Singh by Surjan Singh Jatav, district president of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), stating that it was an insult to Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar.
During the probe, it came to fore that there was a conspiracy to implicate the SHO of Chaubiya police station.
ASP Rural Satyapal Singh said. “It was all done under a conspiracy to implicate SHO Chaubiya, who was getting his staff to work in a disciplined and strict manner. The plan was hatched by a few among the disgruntled staff members.”
“Prima-facie, it came to fore that this conspiracy was hatched by sub-inspector Dharmendra Sharma and constables Kuldeep and Sachin. The idol was brought from Bina village about two years ago. Earlier, it was kept in a room in the new premises of Chaubiya police station. The conspirators deliberately kept it in the toilet, shot its video and made it viral on social media,” the ASP added. According to sources, there was a dispute regarding the statue of Ambedkar in Bina village and the idol was brought to the police station and kept there.
