Kanpur: Kanpur Municipal corporation has called a house meeting on Saturday for clearance of KMC and Jal Nigam budget for the current financial year. The corporators have decided to empower Mayor Pramila Pandey and Municipal commissioner to take decision about a shopping complex on vacant space of Chacha Nehru Hospital, Cooperganj, and allocation of shops.
According to Naveen Pandit, corporator from Govind Nagar, apart from budget 26 more proposals would be presented on the floor on the day. The KMC has made a budget of Rs 13.75 billion out of which Rs 75 crore has been fixed for the development work. Apart from it Jalkal’s budget of Rs 2 billion 68 crore and 51 lakhs will also be placed for approval. Other proposals include permission for Ganga Aarti at Ganga ghats, allocation of some space for worship goods at ghats, operation of pedal boats in both the lakes of Kargil Park at Motijheel, proposal for a five years lease contract of the late Ratan Lal Sharma sports stadium, and constitution of a task force to check burning of garbage and littering. Besides, a proposal of a shopping complex at Chacha Nehru Hospital would be places in the meeting, the corporator said.
The members will also discuss the conservation and maintenance of potable water. Under the rules 2022 and sub-rules 2022 the KMC would get the right to check and examine the drinking water available in any building. The KMC would also invite objections and suggestions about it. Currently KMC has no right to check or examine the drinking water of commercial establishments such as guest houses, Baraat Shala, hotels and petrol pumps.
The KMC had cleared a women’s market at Swarup Nagar Ghantaghar. All illegal possession had been removed from Ghantaghar.
