Singapore-based neo-banking startup Stashfin has made a key addition to its leadership team with Baljit Singh Kalha joining as a General Counsel.

Tushar Aggarwal, the CEO and founder of Stashfin, said, "We are delighted to have someone with such an enviable legal experience join us as a General Counsel. Kalha will guide us in regulatory engagement and work with industry bodies to drive policy change initiatives and represent Stashfin in regulatory forums. We look forward to leveraging his expertise to help Stashfin explore and evaluate new business opportunities."

Kalha added, "Having advised Stashfin in my capacity as an external counsel for a number of years, I have witnessed the firm grow from strength to strength. I feel honored to associate with a solid organization and brand. I hope to use my expertise to provide strategic advice to the leadership team with a business solution mindset and look into corporate strategy, ethics, compliance, licences, equity and debt deals, ESOP schemes, cap table management, and preparation for possible listing."

At Stashfin, Kalha will provide strategic legal counselling to the top and middle management, and internal business and product teams (including legal, public policy, communications and sales and marketing teams) across a diverse range of complex issues. In his new role, he will also provide strategic inputs toward corporate strategy, the introduction of new products, policy enhancements, compliances, and legal aspects.

With over 20 years of experience, he was earlier a senior partner at Titus and Co. Apart from his involvement in the M&A practice at the law firm, he was a member of the Indian and international team of lawyers working on the dispute between Italy and India concerning the Enrica Lexie incident.

Kalha is a seasoned expert in conducting M&A and joint-ventures and specializes in all aspects of investments in India and advising startups and joint-ventures from negotiations, leading to their inception to occasions when ventures have to be restructured or liquidated.

A graduate of St Stephens College, New Delhi, with an LL.B. from Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi, he completed an LL.M from Georgetown University.
