NOIDA: A 12-year-old schoolgirl was allegedly raped in Noida Sector 25A in
Uttar Pradesh by a 20-year-old man on Wednesday morning.
The accused was arrested after the girl raised an alarm, officials said.
According to the police, the accused has been identified as Sunny, a resident of Morna in Sector 35.
"On Wednesday morning, we received a call at the Sector 24 police station around 8am about a man held for raping a minor. Immediately, a team was rushed to the spot and the accused was arrested while the girl was taken to the hospital for medical help," Ankita Sharma, ACP-1 (Noida) said.
During investigation, it was found that the accused who works at a medical store was heading towards the shop.
"He approached the girl and allured her to an isolated place where he raped her. The minor girl raised an alarm following which a passer-by caught him and handed him over to the police," Sharma stated.
During interrogation it was also found that while going to work, the accused had seen the girl two-three times earlier as well.
"The accused was arrested under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 3/4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act)," Gyan Singh, station house officer, Sector 24 police station, said.
Later in the afternoon, police said, the accused was taken for medical examination to the district hospital.
"While returning to the police station, the accused freed himself and jumped from the police jeep near Sector 25. He ran towards the isolated area. After finding himself surrounded by the police, he picked up objects like stones, bricks and started throwing them at our personnel,"
Ranvijay Singh, additional deputy commissioner of police, Noida, said.
Rajneesh Verma (ACP-2) mentioned that a police personnel was injured because of the stone pelting by the accused after which they had to fire at him.
"He received a bullet injury on his leg and was held. Appropriate sections are being added to the case and further investigation is under way," the ACP-2 said.
