Over 84,000 vacancies in CAPFs, to be filled up by December 2023: Home ministry

NEW DELHI: The home ministry on Wednesday said there were over 84,000 vacancies in various central armed police forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles, and that a decision has been taken to fill up these vacancies by December 2023.
Replying to a question in the Rajya Sabha, MoS Nityanand Rai said that CRPF has the most vacancies (29,985), followed by BSF (19,254), SSB (11,402), CISF (10,918), Assam Rifles (9,659) and ITBP (3,187). Of the total 84,405 vacancies in the CAPFs, an examination for filling up 25,271 posts of constable (general duty) has already been conducted.
Meanwhile, in reply to another question, Rai shared that women personnel constitute barely 34,151 of the over 10 lakh combined strength of all central armed police forces.
