After the discovery of the Son Doong Cave, many researchers conducted numerous expeditions inside and outside the cave. A lot of what we know today, about the cave, is the result of such expeditions.

One such expedition inside the cave led the explorers to one of the world’s largest stalagmites. They named it the Great Wall of Vietnam.

The explorers discovered a bed of cave pearls behind the Great Wall of Vietnam. A lot of them were the size of golf balls! Usually, cave pearls are small in size, formed due to the accumulation of calcium salts. Son Doong’s were abnormally large.

The cave’s interior is spacious to say the least. Son Doong cave has its own river system, which also connects it with other neighbouring caves. You can pitch tents and set up camp by the riverbank.
