Shares of Ashok Leyland(up 2.0 per cent), Maruti Suzuki(up 1.55 per cent), Bharat Forge(up 1.41 per cent), Eicher Motors(up 1.13 per cent) and MRF(up 0.89 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, TIINDIA(down 1.94 per cent), TVS Motor Company(down 1.69 per cent), Bajaj Auto(down 1.06 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(down 0.65 per cent) and Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 0.52 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.41 per cent up at 12326.35.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 157.95 points at 16641.8, while the BSE Sensex stood up 547.83 points at 55816.32.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 41 ended in the green, while 9 closed in the red.
Shares of Zomato Ltd., YES Bank, , and Tata Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of , Shoppers Stop, , and Coromandel Int. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while , , , KCK Industries Ltd. and hit their fresh 52-week lows.
