Slamming the usage of several central agencies against the state governments, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reiterated again on Wednesday that “if someone is found guilty, he will be punished,” but she will not tolerate media trials.

“Action will be taken against him if proven guilty. But a media trial cannot happen like this," Mamata Banerjee said, hinting at Trinamool Minister Partha Chatterjee.

Lashing out at the media, Banerjee said, “If someone makes a mistake and it is proved by law, there will be action and punishment against them. But before the judges can pronounce their verdict, there is a media trial going on against people.”

“They don’t have any other work except using multiple agencies to capture the government. They have toppled the Maharashtra government and then did the same to Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. Since they lost in Bengal, they want to repeat the same action. I want to make it clear that it will not be an easy task here. If they want to attack Bengal, they will have to fight the Royal Bengal Tiger,” Banerjee emphasized.

“I do not have any problems with investigating agencies doing their work. But I will not tolerate ruining of image of any political party in the name of an investigation, especially by those who have looted the country… if people raise their voices, they are either suspended or slapped with court cases,” she added.

The West Bengal Chief Minister also claimed that BJP will not come to power in 2024. “I will not speak on the number of seats or explain the electoral arithmetic yet but they will not win in the coming Lok Sabha polls,” Banerjee said. Banerjee was addressing a programme at the 25 years celebration of the Titagarh Wagon factory .

“The industrialists should not be scared. I know your homes have been raided by CBI, ED and the Income Tax authorities,” she said.
