Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.04% in an upbeat market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index traded negative around 09:59AM(IST)on Wednesday in an upbeat market.

Ashok Leyland(up 0.62 per cent), Maruti Suzuki(up 0.56 per cent), Eicher Motors(up 0.56 per cent), Tata Motors(up 0.36 per cent) and Bharat Forge(up 0.23 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Hero MotoCorp(down 1.87 per cent), Escorts Kubota(down 0.83 per cent), Bajaj Auto(down 0.82 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(down 0.73 per cent) and Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 0.7 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was down 0.04 per cent at 12271.4 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 7.4 points at 16491.25, while the BSE Sensex was up 51.28 points at 55319.77.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 35 were trading in the green, while 15 were in the red.

Shares of Zomato Ltd., , Tata Power, HDFC Life and were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Shoppers Stop, , eMudhra Ltd., and hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while , Karda Const, , and hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
