Nagpur: MLC Chandrasekhar Bawankule on Tuesday advised Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray to introspect rather than passing the buck on others for his party’s failures. He was responding to accusations against the BJP by Thackeray his recent televised interview with party MP Sanjay Raut.
The former chief minister of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government had accused party’s saffron friend-turned-foe BJP of finishing the regional parties.
“From former Prime Minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee to current Narendra Modi, every time the BJP has helped its allies. Otherwise, Eknath Shinde would never have become the CM. When BJP helped you, you heaped praises and when you are facing biggest crisis after the party’s split, you are criticising us. Blaming others for your failure will not help you. Self-introspect, you will realize your mistakes,” Bawankule said in a statement released to the media.
Advising Thackeray not to fall into the trap of Raut, the Sena’s chief spokesperson, the city’s former guardian minister said they all understand the former was out of legislature for 18 months due to bad health. “Now, we do not know which doctor he (Uddhav) has got, as he is roaming around daily addressing activists without a mask. He and son Aditya are also shouting slogans with their workers,” Bawankule said.
The BJP general secretary further flayed the former CM of three-party coalition government for demanding mid-term assembly polls to check the mandate. “Before holding hand of Congress-NCP, you should have demanded elections, and should have faced the public. In this government, the MLAs who fought in alliance with the BJP in 2019 polls have come together again. It was actual mandate given by the people when Sena-BJP alliance won the majority,” he said.
Stressing that the Shinde and Fadnavis-led government was working with full honesty and dedication, Bawankule accused Thackeray scion of mistreating his legislators. “Had they been treated respectfully, they would have never left your party. A majority of your leaders were fed up with misrule of 2.5 years when you headed MVA in an unholy alliance with the Congress and NCP, against whom you fought the polls,” he said.
