Varanasi: The vice-chancellor of Banaras Hindu University Prof Sudhir K Jain said that the
BHU and
Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, United States, will work on possible collaboration in terms of exchange programmes for teachers and research scholars.
Prof Jain was speaking during an interaction with the Virginia Commonwealth University delegation on Tuesday which was on a two-day visit to BHU to explore possible tie-ups. The VC said that the two institutions can immediately take up bilateral exchange programmes involving faculty members and research scholars and gradually work out similar plans for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
He suggested that faculty and experts from Virginia Commonwealth University can visit BHU and deliver lectures to build capacity and provide a further exposure to students and faculty of BHU.
Prof N V Chalapathi Rao, coordinator, international collaborations, BHU, also present during the interaction, said that the delegation led by Dr Michael Rao, President of Virginia Commonwealth University and VCU Health System, comprised Dr P Srirama Rao, vice-president for research and innovation, Dr Jill Blondin, executive director, Global Education Office and Marci Fradkin, director of Global Partnerships, Global Education Office.
The delegation also interacted with the faculty members of BHU at Inter-disciplinary School of Life-Sciences at the Institute of Science. The delegationalso visited the Institute of Medical Sciences and Faculty of Visual Arts and lauded the contribution of BHU in the domains of science, art, culture, medical fields .
