PUNE: City-based hospital, Jupiter hospital, is organizing a liver disease screening camp at Liver OPD from 25th to 30th July to raise awareness about liver-related conditions and diseases.
Sharing details about the camp, Dr. Pavan Hanchanale, Consultant - Hepatologist and Liver Transplant Physician said, “The camp includes a comprehensive assessment beginning with a consultation with a liver specialist to understand a patient’s medical history followed by crucial screening tests for viral hepatitis like HBsAg and anti HCV. The hospital goes an extra mile to serve the masses with the provision of all in-house laboratory and diagnostic tests at a discounted rate to avail maximum benefits from the camp.”
He further added that “The event aims to spread the importance to keep the liver healthy and disease-free to live a healthy and productive life. Every year, liver disease affects millions of patients in India and is the tenth most common cause of death as per the World Health Organization.
Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver mainly brought about by hepatitis viruses, but the disease can also be a result of other infections, autoimmune diseases, and toxic substances such as alcohol and certain drugs. The condition has the potential to damage the liver leading to fibrosis (scarring), cirrhosis, or liver cancer. Hepatitis B and C viruses lead to chronic disease in millions of people worldwide and, together, are the most common cause of liver cirrhosis and cancer. Without proper treatment, liver diseases can have severe consequences and be life-threatening.
Furthermore, such camps would play an important role to educate the public about the importance to maintain their liver health.
