Mangaluru: Man held for senior citizen’s murder in Dharmasthala

MANGALURU: The Dharmasthala police arrested one person on Sunday in connection with the murder of a senior citizen.
The accused Ashok, 32, is a relative of the daughter-in-law of the deceased, Akku, 85. She was reportedly found murdered in her house on Saturday.
The police suspect she was attacked when Akku’s son Deekaya Ammu Gowda and his wife, both daily wagers, had left home for work and their 12-year-old daughter was in school.
Akku was alone at home.
When her granddaughter returned from school around 2 pm and was looking for her grandmother, she was found lying behind the house.
The neighbours and the family were alerted and Akku reportedly died on the way to the hospital.
The family registered a complaint. The police have found the victim’s gold earrings from the accused.
