CHENNAI: The
Tamil Nadu government is in the forefront in designing and implementing schemes for development and welfare of the disabled children, chief minister M K Stalin said on Monday.
“Only our state in the country is designing several schemes for the disabled
students. Everyone is aware of it. And the new scheme is going to be a pioneer scheme,” said the CM while launching a state-wide joint programme along with Amar Seva Sangam and the Tamil Nadu state mission of education for all – Samagra Shiksha -- in Chennai. Children aged between 3 and 18 years would benefit under the scheme, which would be through a digital rehabilitation platform.
This scheme would guarantee quality education, enhancement of skills, sports education and physical education among the disabled children, said the CM.
He said the state government had been working with a single aim to achieve social justice by ensuring equal rights and opportunity to all sections of the society.
“We are taking responsibility to fulfil the needs in education and better life through schemes like Illam Thedi Kalvi, Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam, Naan Mudhalvan and Kalloori Kanavugal,” the CM added.
The CM has also applauded the Amar Seva Sangam for four decades of service to the community of disabled peole. He appreciated the efforts of the organisation for reaching out to disabled children and providing them primary education and also helping their parents to cope with the challenges.
“I am glad to know that more than 3,000 have benefited under this scheme. I appreciate the organisation continuing its service,” said the CM.
The organisation has joined hands with the government and extended its service in Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, and Virudhunagar districts.
Minister for health Ma Subramanian, minister for HR & CE P K Sekar Babu, school education minister Anbil Mahesh and officials have participated in the programme.
