1 dead, 1 injured in road accident at Khandola

Ponda: Madan Antonio De Souza, 25, a resident of Aradi Bandh Calapor, Santa Cruz, died on Saturday evening after a speeding goods carrier rammed into the two-wheeler he was riding.
The pillion rider, Vikas Ranahalagi, 20, a native of Belagavi, Karnataka, also suffered severe injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at GMC, Bambolim.
Ponda PI Vijaykumar Chodankar said that De Souza and Ranahalagi were headed towards Marcel from the Amona bridge. When they had reached the Khandola approach road, the goods carrier, which was speeding, hit the two-wheeler they were on.
The grievously injured De Souza and Ranahalagi were rushed to the Betki primary health centre where the medical officer on duty declared De Souza brought dead while Ranahalagi was sent to GMC for treatment.
