Cases drop in Ahmedabad, Gujarat

AHMEDABAD: After three consecutive days of 300-plus daily Covid cases, Ahmedabad city on Sunday recorded 244 new cases. The officials, however, said that rather than any other factor, it could well be the result of relatively less tests due to Sunday and rains. In Gujarat, the daily Covid tally was 842.

Active cases in Ahmedabad reached 2,050 whereas Gujarat on Sunday had 5,714 active cases. Of the total, 8 were on ventilator. Other cases in the state included 106 from Mehsana, 69 from Vadodara city, 42 from Surat city, 39 from Gandhinagar, 38 from Surat, 33 from Kutch, and 29 from Patan among others. The eight municipal corporation areas accounted for 51% of cases, whereas the rest were from districts. Only three of 33 districts had zero active cases. In 24 hours vaccinated 898 persons for the first dose and 1,935 for the second. In all, 5.42 crore hav ebeen administered first and 5.36 crore second dose of vaccine. The state administered 61,680 booster doses to 18-59 years population, taking total to 16.24 lakh.
