Ludhiana: A 19-year-old man was found murdered at a vacant plot at Daba Road on Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Anthony, a resident of Jain Colony who was a factory worker.
His father Mangal Singh said, “Around 9pm on Saturday, Anthony left the house without telling anyone. When he did not return, we tried to call him on his phone, but the number was unreachable. My other son, along with his friends, went out to look for Anthony, but to no avail.”
“In the morning, an acquaintance told us that Anthony’s body was found at Daba Road. We rushed there and found him in a pool of blood. He had injuries on face. Thereafter, we informed the police,” he added.
Mangal Singh said those living near the spot told them that a group of at least 10 people was consuming alcohol near the site and that they might have indulged in a spat with Anthony and killed him.
Sub-inspector Madhu Bala, SHO of Division 6, said the body has been sent to civil hospital for the autopsy. It has injury marks and Mangal Singh has accused unidentified persons of killing his son. The police have lodged an FIR under sections 302 (murder) of the IPC and are scanning the footage of the CCTVs installed in the area.
