Jharkhand: Gumla DC Sushant Gaurav awards star athlete for setting record

GUMLA: Deputy commissioner Sushant Gaurav awarded athlete Supriti Kachhap for her national record in the recently concluded Khelo India Youth Athletics meet in Haryana. The player’s mother, Balmati Oraon, received the cheque of Rs 1.55 lakh as Supriti is at the national camp in Patiala ahead of the 2022 World Athletics U-20 Championships (Junior World Athletics Championship) scheduled in Cali, Colombia from August 2 to 7. The amount was paid to the athlete as per the state government’s sports policy for bagging gold for Jharkhand at the national meet. At Khelo India games, she set a new national record in U-18 3000 m race by clocking 9.46.14 minutes.
Gaurav also felicitated Balmati and approved her demand of 500 m approach road to her house at Burhu village under Ghaghra block.
