Gurgaon: The city is expected to receive more spells of rainfall from the middle of the week as the monsoon trough is likely to move northwards from July 27, Met department officials on Sunday.
Though the rain deficit has recovered to some extent, with light to moderate showers in the past few days, Gurgaon is still facing a shortfall of 33%, an improvement from 44% on July 21.
Since July 1, the city has received cumulative rainfall of 93.9mm as compared to the normal of 140.1mm.
According to IMD, the monsoon trough is running south of its normal position and is likely to persist in the same location for the next two days. From July 27, the trough is expected to shift northwards, towards the normal position.
“There is a possibility of heavy showers at isolated places on Thursday, including some parts of south
Haryana. While the rain activity has been subdued, it has not become passive as we are witnessing scattered showers, which are expected to continue for the next two days. Thereafter it will increase in intensity,” an IMD official said.
On Sunday, the city received a short spell of intense rains in the evening though humidity was high. The maximum temperature was 34.4 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature stood at 25.5 degrees Celsius. Relative humidity index oscillated between 86% and 91%
