Chennai Corporation collects Rs 12.13 lakh fine for littering, defacement of walls

CHENNAI: The Greater Chennai Corporation in July collected a cumulative fine of Rs 12.13 lakh from people who were littering garbage in public places and defacing public walls.
Out of the Rs 12.13 lakh, Rs. 5.84 lakh was collected from people who were littering in public places, Rs 5.48 lakh from those dumping construction debris in public places and Rs 80,400 for defacement of walls.
The highest of Rs 73,500 was collected from Kodambakkam zone for dumping debris. The highest of Rs 10,000 was collected in Teynampet for defacements. The highest of Rs 77,020 was collected from Perungudi zone for littering.
