MRF(up 1.31 per cent), TVS Motor Company(up 0.58 per cent) and Bharat Forge(up 0.04 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Kubota(down 1.91 per cent), Eicher Motors(down 1.69 per cent), TIINDIA(down 1.47 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 1.28 per cent) and Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 1.0 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was down 0.63 per cent at 12554.5 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 112.6 points at 16606.85, while the BSE Sensex was down 396.59 points at 55675.64.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 14 were trading in the green, while 36 were in the red.
Shares of Zomato Ltd., , , and were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of , eMudhra Ltd., , and Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Zomato Ltd., , , and P E Analytics Ltd. hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
