Kanpur: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is all set to file a charge sheet in the court against the accused with regard to the June 3 Parade and Nai Sadak violence.
According to official sources, the SIT has almost completed the investigation into the June 3 violence.
"As no new names are expected to crop up, in such a situation, preparations are being made to file a charge sheet," sources further said.
To recall, violence had rocked Parade and its adjoining Nai Sadak area on June 3 leaving several people injured in heavy brick-batting and firing that took place after Friday prayers. People had staged a protest against
BJP's former spokesperson Nupur Sharma, who during a TV debate, made objectionable remarks against the
Prophet. Police investigation revealed that the violence had taken place in a pre-planned manner with an aim to grab Chandeshwar ka Hata and slowing down the ongoing investigation with regard to the enemy properties following which the main accused Hayat Zafar Hashmi, his financier Mukhtar Baba, owner of Baba Biryani and builder Haji Wasi were arrested and sent to jail. Besides the two, 60 other people had been arrested and sent to jail. Joint commissioner of police Anand Prakash on Friday reviewed the investigation with the SIT in-charge DCP East Pramod Kumar. The joint police commissioner said that the investigation in the said case has been completed. “The conspiracy with regard to the June 3 violence has been exposed. The names of people who were involved have come to fore,” said JCP Anand Prakash Tiwari. “ SIT has been asked to file charge sheet against the accused who are in jail”, he added.
