Ludhiana: In a good news for small garment factories, the common facility centre (CFC) of the ready-made garment cluster is nearing completion. Once operational, the member units will be able to get the processes like knitting, stitching, computer-aided manufacturing done from this CFC.
Giving more information, Rajesh Gupta, director of the cluster, said, “Special purpose vehicle (SPV) for the ready made garment cluster till now has got funding of Rs. 9 crore from the ministry of micro, small and medium enterprises under the cluster development programme and we have made the contribution of Rs. 2 crore from our end as per guidelines. Now amount of Rs. 3.5 crore is pending from government’s side, which too is expected to be released soon and all the members are looking forward to the completion of the CFC now. This state-of-art CFC will be equipped with latest machinery and once operational, the member units will be benefitted immensely as large number of processes for which the units have to huge amount of money and also face other problems will be completed here without any hassle.”
Gupta said, “We are expecting that this CFC will be operational by September this year as only minor works like setting up of printing unit is pending, rest all have been done. As of now there are 35 garment manufacturing units that are part of this cluster and it is because of the same ideology of all the factory owners that the work of our cluster is going on smoothly and at such fast pace.”
