LUCKNOW: Lucknow police on Sunday arrested two more persons who had offered namaz inside city’s Lulu mall without the permission of the mall administration on July 12.
The two have been identified as Mohammed Rauf (28) and Saud Aziz (25).
So far, police have arrested seven of the eight people who were spotted purportedly offering namaz inside the mall in a video that went viral on social media days after the international venture was inaugurated by UP CM Yogi Adityanath and the Lulu group chief on July 10.
Additional deputy commissioner of police, south zone, Rajesh Srivastava said that the duo was arrested on Sunday from Chaupatiya lane following the interrogation of Adil who was arrested a day earlier in connection with the same case.
“Rauf and Saud work as embroiderers in the Chowk area, and had gone with friends to the mall,” said Srivastava.
The CCTVs installed inside the mall spotted the duo entering the market, purchasing some articles and offering namaz, the officer said.
The officer also said that when police asked the duo why they were offering prayers, they said that Lukmaan, one of those arrested earlier, had asked them to do so.
Sources privy to the probe said that now only a minor spotted in the video purportedly offering prayers inside the mall on July 12 remains free.
So far, police have arrested Mohammed Rehan, Atif Khan, Lukmaan Ali, Nauman Ali, Adil and the two on Sunday.
A company of PAC was also deployed at the mall along with cops in civvies for keeping vigilance while drones are also being used for surveillance
