So far, six arrests have been made in connection with the murder
GURUGRAM: Police on Saturday made three more arrests as the manhunt for those who were either involved in the murder of DSP Surender Singh Bishnoi or helped shelter the accused continued. Two of the arrested men – Taufiq and Asruddin – were allegedly in the truck when its driver Shabir mowed down the DSP, who had intercepted the vehicle carrying stones mined from an illegal quarrying site at Pachgaon village in Nuh on July 19.
Police said both Taufiq and Asruddin are Pachgaon residents. The third arrest was of Alwar resident Lambu alias Budda, who is accused of giving shelter to Shabir while he ran from the cops. Lambu was picked up from Buraka colony in Tauru on the Sohna-Rewari road.
So far, six arrests have been made in the probe – four, including Shabir and his cousin Ikkar for their involvement in the murder and two for giving shelter to Shabir. Police said two more men were in the truck besides Shabir, Ikkar, Taufiq and Asruddin when the DSP was crushed to death. The hunt continues for them.
“The two of them and a few more individuals who harboured the key accused are absconding and will be arrested soon,” Nuh SP Varun Singla said on Saturday. Singla said during interrogation, it came to light that Shabir had started mining stones for the first time since winters after an order was placed.
“It has been found that they would occasionally procure stones whenever local demand came. The last time they did it was in winter. They would engage labourers who would do the work of supplying the stones. In Ikkar’s case, we have come across a certificate that he has bipolar disorder, but it is for the doctor to assess that now,” said Singla.
All three accused arrested on Saturday were sent to two days in police remand. Nuh police have simultaneously launched a search operation to crack down on illegal mining. So far, 60 vehicles have been under the Mining Act and 27 under Section 102 of the Code of Civil Procedure. Mining is banned in Nuh, Gurugram and Faridabad by Supreme Court orders.
