PATNA: The police on Saturday raided four locations in
Patna in connection with the Phulwarisharif terror module case.
Meanwhile, two accused earlier arrested in the case - retired sub-inspector Mohamamd Jalaluddin and lawyer Nuruddin Jangi - were taken on police remand for interrogation on Saturday.
A senior police officer privy to investigations said the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has yet not taken over the Phulwarisharif terror module case. "The case is still being investigated by Bihar police with assistance from its sister agencies," he added.
Patna SSP Manavjit Singh Dhillon told TOI that the police raided the old office of Popular Front of India (PFI) in the city and other places of people who were in touch with the terror suspects. He, however, refused to reveal the names of the locations raided on Saturday.
Asked about the funding being done from foreign countries, including Qatar, he said, "The matter is being investigated."
Another police officer said the arrested terror suspects have shared vital information with the police that will go a long way in busting the terror module.
Altogether 26 people have been named by Bihar police in the FIR, including the five who have been made accused in Phulwarisharif case. They were allegedly involved in radicalising youths and imparting physical training to them on use of arms. They had organised a two-day meeting just ahead of PM Narendra Modi's recent visit to Patna. A plan was also made to hold a protest march against CAA and NRC on the day of the PM's visit. However, the suspects were detained by the police just before the PM's arrival and arrested later.
