Vadodara: After observing hunger strike for 24 hours since Friday, leaders of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) ended their strike at the MS University campus on Saturday afternoon.
Two student leaders of ABVP suffered from dehydration and their blood pressure levels also dropped during the strike. One of the two student leaders had to be shifted to the state-run SSG Hospital in an ambulance.
Members of the right-wing student outfit who sat in protest through the night inside the premises of faculty of commerce, said that the strike was called off after the university vice-chancellor (VC) assured them through a video call that results of third year BCom will be declared in the first week of August.
“We have been assured by the VC that the university will declare results of third year BCom earliest by August 2 or latest by August 4. It is after this assurance that we have decided to call off our strike,” said Rushik Makwana, ABVP’s vice-president for MSU campus and a student of third year BCom.
He said that as per a syndicate resolution results must be announced within 45 days of examination.
