Will take action if charges proved in court: Trinamool Congress

KOLKATA: Trinamool Congress on Saturday said it had full faith in the judiciary and would act only on the basis of judicial findings and not allegations made by the Enforcement Directorate, whose neutrality was questionable.
"Based on statements attributed to ED, we have learnt that cash has been seized from a lady's home. The lady has no links with Trinamool Congress. Neither is the cash seized linked to the party. The matter is now in the court of law. We will wait for the judicial outcome. If the courts find anyone guilty, the party will take all necessary steps and action," party spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said. "We often see that cases by central agencies turn out to be long- drawn. We want the probe to be completed quickly," he added.
Questioning the neutrality of central agencies Ghosh said, "We have repeatedly que-stioned the neutrality of these agencies. They have become BJP party organs. What they say and do, therefore, has no relevance till anything is proven in a court of law."
Asked if Partha Chatterjee would retain his cabinet portfolios Ghosh said, "We have full faith in the judiciary. The party and the government will act only based on judicial findings and not by claims made by CBI and ED."
Party senior Firhad Hak-im said had Chatterjee crossed over to BJP like Suvendu Adhikari, he wouldn't have had to face this harassment. "BJP is like a washing machine and anyone joining the party is absolved," he said.
Referring to photographs and videos being circulated to prove Chatterjee's links with Arpita Mukherjee, Ghosh said, "If photographs and videos are to be the benchmark of public probity and criminal probes, then we believe the Prime Minister has been photographed with people implicated in frauds worth lakhs of crores. Even recently, a terrorist suspect was photographed with BJP party workers. We do not want sermons from a party whose former president was convicted of bribery."
