MYSURU: Congress veteran and Rajya Sabha opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday said it is not right to deliberate on the chief ministerial candidate much before next year's assembly elections, and the party high command should be allowed to take a final call on it.
"Congress will always face elections with collective leadership. The matter of who should be CM won't be decided in Mysuru, Bengaluru or Kalaburagi. The party high command in Delhi will take a call on the matter," Kharge told mediapersons.
Opposition leader Siddaramaiah and KPCC chief DK Shivakumar staked claim to the post many times in the recent past. Their supporters too have been opening announcing that their respective leaders will lead the state, leading to confusion.
On whether he will come back to state politics, the 80-year-old leader said, "Let me see if everyone (Congress) decides to give me a chance."
