The FIR, filed by the Chembur police, has been registered under Sections 292 (sale of obscene books), 293 and 509 (act intending to outrage modesty of women) of the Indian Penal Code.
On the Covid-19 case front, Maharashtra reported 2,135 fresh cases along with 12 deaths in the last 24 hours. Active cases stand at 14,092.
A local train, from CSMT to Panvel, derailed this morning, impacting services on the Harbour Line. The train, which was to leave Platform Number 1 of CSMT touched the end, resulting in the derailment of the rear coach. No injuries were reported. An official told The Indian Express the trains on Harbour Line are running from CSMT Platform No 2, but are behind schedule.
Meanwhile, four persons who were detained for protesting against the metro rail carshed construction in Mumbai’s Aarey forest area on Monday were released after 10 hours. Protesters Tabrez Sayyed and Jayesh Bhise were detained first after notices under section 149 (action to prevent cognizable offence) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) were issued to them and then two others, identified as Laxman Jadhav and Rohit, were detained, according to news agency PTI.
CSMT-Panvel Local train which was to leave from platform number 1 of CSMT touched the dead-end on same platform, resulting in derailment of one trolley of one rear end coach on Tuesday affecting the train services on the harbour line.
There's no injury to anyone and rerailment of the derailed coach is on.
According to the central railway, the incident took place around 9:40 am on Tuesday. The official said the Harbour line trains are running from CSMT Platform No. 2 but are behind schedule.
"The team is on the field to rerail the coach and resume the train services," said an CR official adding that Main line services (CSMT- Kalyan/ Karjat-Khopoli/Kasara are running as per it's schedule.
The Mumbai Police on Tuesday registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh over his nude pictures on social media, an official said.
A Mumbai-based Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) had approached the Chembur police here with a complaint against the actor.
Based on it, the police registered the FIR against Singh under various Indian Penal Code Sections like 292 (sale of obscene books, etc), 293 (sale of obscene objects to young people), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and provisions of the Information Technology Act, an official from the Chembur police station said. Pune-based National Chemical Laboratory (NCL) has bagged a certificate of appreciation from the Union commerce and industry ministry for its efforts in spreading awareness of intellectual property rights (IPR).
The Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks (CGPDTM), generally known as the Indian Patent Office, awarded the certificate in recognition of the NCL's active participation in the National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission (NIPAM).
The Pimpri-Chinchwad police have arrested a 39-year-old man for allegedly raping his 7-year-old daughter multiple times at their residence, officers said. The Southwest monsoon is all set to enter the season’s first break-phase starting July 27. There will be respite for states such as Maharashtra and Gujarat which have suffered due to floods, said IMD. During this phase, rainfall activity will largely be concentrated along the Himalayan foothills.

Several tarballs and jellyfish got washed ashore on Mumbai's popular Juhu beach, following which lifeguards asked visitors not to venture into the waters, a police official said on Monday.
The blue-coloured jellyfish and tarballs, which are lumps of solidified crude oil, surfaced on the beach here on Sunday.
The jellyfish have tentacles and their sting can be painful.
Hence, lifeguards advised people visiting the beach to stay cautious and avoid coming in contact with the marine organisms and tarballs, the official said.
A large number of jellyfish get washed ashore during the monsoon season every year.
A labourer died after falling from the 10th floor of an under-construction building in Malad East in Mumbai, a police official said on Sunday.
The incident took place on Friday and the deceased was identified as Manish Bhaliya (46), the Kurar police station official said.
"This is an under-construction 24-storey tower. Bhaliya fell from the 10th floor due to the floor being slippery. He fell from an open window next to the lift. He was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital," he said.(PTI)

The Mumbai police on Sunday arrested two more accused in connection with the killing of a 25-year-old man in Dharavi area of the city, an official said.
Earlier this morning, several residents of Kamraj Nagar locality gathered outside the Dharavi police station demanding that all the accused involved in the crime be arrested, the official said.
The police have so far arrested three accused in the case, and a hunt is on for one more person, he said.
Vishalraj Nadar, a kabaddi player, was allegedly bludgeoned to death during a scuffle with Mallesh Chitankadi (32) in Kamraj Nagar in the early hours of Saturday, the official said.(PTI)
Maharashtra on Sunday reported 2,015 fresh COVID-19 cases and six fatalities, taking the tally to 80,34,261 and the toll to 1,48,062, an official said.
The addition to the tally was less than the 2,336 reported on Saturday, but the deaths increased by one from the previous day when five people had succumbed, he said.
Of the new cases, Pune circle reported 680, followed by 462 in Mumbai circle, 313 in Nagpur, 209 in Nashik, 107 in Kolhapur, 85 in Akola, 81 in Aurangabad and 78 in the Latur Circle.
Three deaths were reported in Mumbai Circle, two in Nagpur and one in Pune circle, as per state health department data.
The recovery count increased by 1,916 to touch 78,71,507, leaving Maharashtra with 14,692 active cases.(PTI)
A road rage incident in Mumbai led to the abduction of a 37-year-old beautician riding a two-wheeler allegedly by a man and his sister in suburban Khar, following which three persons were arrested on Sunday, police said.
The accused woman, whose car dashed against the two-wheeler of the beautician, is identified as Aaya Kadawala and her brother as Faiz Kadawala, an official said.
The incident occurred on the Khar link road on Saturday late night when a car allegedly driven by Aaya dashed against the two-wheeler of the complainant, leading to a heated argument between them, he said.(PTI)
Rebel Shiv Sena MLA Gulabrao Patil on Sunday said party president Uddhav Thackeray did not give enough time to the party legislators during his tenure as Maharashtra chief minister.
The former minister also said that Thackeray should get rid of the coterie of party leaders around him.
"A 'sarpanch' (elected village head) ought to give audience to every elected representative of the local governing body. When Thackeray was just the party head, we could raise our complaints against a minister if he or she did not cooperate," Patil told a regional new channel.
"But after he became the chief minister, there was no one whom we could turn to for taking up our complaints of works not getting done. He should have given enough audience to the legislators," he said.(PTI)
The Mumbai police have made another arrest in connection with the death of a 25-year-old man who was killed in Dharavi area of the city, an official said on Sunday.
Residents of Kamraj Nagar gathered in the vicinity of the police station and demanded the arrest of two more persons involved in the killing, claiming that the CCTV footage showed four persons attacking the victim.

The team will set up their base in the port town of Jebel Ali, Dubai for a 19-day training camp starting from 25 July until 12 August.

At least 22 people were injured when a state transport (ST) bus toppled in Maharashtra's Solapur district on Sunday, police said.
The accident took place near Akkalkot around 10.30 am, when the bus was going towards Gangapur from Solapur, an official said.
The bus driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a bend, causing it to topple over, he said.
As many as 22 passengers sustained injuries and were admitted to a state-run hospital in Akkalkot, the official said.
A case of accident has been registered by the Solapur rural police, he added.(PTI)
