LUDHIANA: The police booked a man for allegedly raping his minor daughter on Friday. The mother of the minor girl saw the crime and raised an alarm.
The minor girl, a class VIII student, claimed that her father had been raping her for a long time and used to threaten that he would set her on fire if she complained to anyone.
Acting on complaint of girl's mother, the police lodged an FIR. In her complaint, the woman said her husband had been an habitual drinker and used to thrash her and two children in an inebriated condition. On Thursday night, her husband repeated the act after which he pushed her and her son out of the house and asked her daughter to prepare dinner.
"I along with my son went to my in-law's house who lived in the same village. After some time, I returned thinking that my husband would have slept. But, when I reached home I saw my husband raping my daughter. My in-laws also reached there. On seeing them, my husband escaped from the house," she alleged.
The woman said her daughter shared how the accused had been raping her for the past few months.
Sub-inspector Jaspreet Kaur, investigating officer, said a case under Sections 376 (Rape), 506 (Criminal intimidation) of the IPC and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (Pocso) Act.
(The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
