Coimbatore: The Kattor police arrested three ganja peddlers in the city on Friday and seized 28kg of ganja and 3lakh from them.
A police officer identified the arrested men as S Praveen John Britto, 24, S Dharmaraj, 24, and M Sathishkumar, 34, all from Dindigul district.
Police got a tip-off about Praveen and a team led by sub-inspector Muthu Irulappan and special sub-inspector Yusuf intercepted him at the Gandhipuram bus stand. They checked his bags and found the contraband. Police arrested him and based on information given by him, police arrested the other two men.
“Preliminary inquiry revealed that the trio was supplying ganja procured from Andhra Pradesh to local peddlers. They spilled the beans about a few other peddlers in the city. Special teams are working to nab them,” deputy commissioner of police C S Madavan said.
Meanwhile, police commissioner V Balakrishnan has formed two special teams led by inspectors Shanthi and Mariamuthu to curtail the sales and movements of contraband items in the city. tnn
