Mangaluru: Dharmadharshi of Talakala Dharma Chavadi, Sri Krishna Deviprasada Thirtha, was found dead in the mutt near Gurupura on Friday. The body of the 50-year-old seer, who built the Dharma Chavadi at Talakala in Kolambe village near Gurupura, was found hanging to the ceiling fan, early in the morning.
In his poorvashram, the seer was known as Deviprasada Shetty, and he had accepted ‘sanyasa deeksha’ about five years ago.
After attaining sanyasa, he was known as Sri Krishna Deviprasada Thirtha, and was staying in Dharma Chavadi, where devotees used to visit to seek his blessings and advice.
Bajpe police have registered a case and begun an investigation, after a complaint was filed by his wife from poorvashrama, Prabha Shetty. Police said that the incident might have taken place on Thursday night. “We have received a complaint from his wife from poorvashrama, and based on it, we have registered a case.
A postmortem has already been conducted. Since the family members are awaiting the arrival of his daughter from abroad, the body has been preserved in the Wenlock District Hospital mortuary. A thorough investigation will be conducted, after receiving the postmortem report,” police said.
