Margao: Travelling Ticket Examiners (TTEs) of Hubballi division of South Western Railway (SWR) were provided with Hand Held Terminals (HHT), which will be introduced with immediate effect in four pairs of trains.
HHT, which replaces manual paper charts, is a network-connected device which is expected to make the train ticket-checking on-board a convenient exercise.
“On-duty TTEs can download the working chart on-board using the terminal. Connected to the Passenger Reservation System through networking, the HHT facilitates updating cancellations of tickets, not joining of passengers, clearance of RAC, etc. in the system,” a press note by SWR states.
The trains which will have HHTs are 16589/16590 Bengaluru-Miraj-Bengaluru Rani Chennamma Express, 17309/17310 YesvantpurVasco-Yesvantpur Express, 16543/16544 Yesvantpur-SSS Hubballi-Yesvantpur Express, and 20653/20654 KSR Bengaluru-Belagavi-KSR Bengaluru Express.
