Private bus overturns on Agra expressway, 13 injured

KANPUR: Nearly 13 passengers were injured after a private bus going from Delhi to Patna overturned in Araul area of Billhaur on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway on Friday morning. The injured were admitted to Lala Lajpat Rai hospital. The police also recovered nearly 45 bottles of English liquor from the bus. At the same time, ADG Bhanu Bhaskar, who was passing the mishap site, sent the bus driver for medical examination on the apprehension of driving the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. The incident took place at around 11 am on the Expressway, when the rear tire of a fast-moving private bus got punctured with a loud burst. Due to this, the bus overturned. There was an outcry among the bus passengers. Locals of the area rushed to the spot and evacuated the passengers from the bus. Billhaur Inspector Arvind Singh Sisodia also arrived with the force along with an ambulance and sent 13 injured to Billhaur CHC, from where the injured were further referred to LLR. DM Vishak G Iyer and senior police officials visited LLR hospital and inquired about the well being of injured passengers. One-way traffic was disrupted for a while following the mishap.
