KDA to demolish 7 bldgs owned by June 3 violence accused

Kanpur: The Kanpur Development Authority has issued demolition notices of seven illegal buildings owned by builder Haji Wasi, one of the accused of June 3 violence at Parade and Nai Sadak. The buildings owned by people associated with Wasi are also being investigated.
“The KDA issued a notice of demolition of these buildings after the matter came to light. Action will also be taken against the officers and engineers posted in the authority during the construction of these buildings after invetigation,” said a senior official.
Officer on special duty Avnish Singh said formalities are underway to necessitate action against illegal buildings raised by Haji Wasi and his counterparts.
Meanwhile, the KDA however is yet to receive a reply in connection with notice served on July 14, to the office of Dawat-e-Islami, built in the Chhotey Mian Ka Hata in Colonelganj area of the City. The KDA had set a deadline of July 29 in this regard. “If no response is received within the stipulated time frame, further action will be taken,” said a senior official.
