So Aam Aadmi Party is certain to win in the assembly elections, much like in Punjab, said AAP state vice-president Bhaskar Rao. Speaking to reporters at the party office here on Thursday, Rao said AAP is strengthening its base in rural areas. Ten different units, including youth and women, would be started, he said, adding: “Even before the elections, infighting is on between some (Congress) leaders over the CM chair.”

Students’ union inaugurationDharwad: The inauguration of students’ union of KE Board’s PU College in Malamaddi of Dharwad district and induction of first-year students will be held at the college auditorium at 11.30am on Friday. Folk event this eveningHubballi: Guruji Foundation and Nupur Nrutya Vihar will joinly conduct ‘Udho Udho Yellamma’, a folk event, at Sawai Gandharva hall here at 5.30pm on Friday. Nupur Nrutya Vihar president H S Kiran told reporters here on Thursday that noted artiste Savitakka will render ‘Udho Udho’ folk songs and also perform a solo act. The programme will be inaugurated by former CM Jagadish Shettar. Many folk artistes will be participating in the event, Kiran added.
Workshop on Hindustani musicDharwad: Karnataka Sangeeta Nritya Academy will organise a three-day workshop on Hindustani classical music at Bendre Bhavan in Sadhanakeri here from Friday. Academy registrar S H Shivarudrappa said about 100 trainees in 15-40 age group will attend the workshop. Noted Hindustani vocalist Pt M Venkateshkumar will inaugurate the event at 9am in the presence of academy chairman Anur Anant Krishna Sharma. On Saturday, vocalist Kaivalyakumar Gurav will explain about voice modulation while Shakti Patil will deliberate on presentation of raagas. Somanath Mardur will guide the participants on the dimensions of presentation of raagas. DC Gurudatt Hegde will be the chief guest for the valedictory at 12.30pm on Sunday.
