Thiruvananthapuram: The Kollam munssif court on Thursday directed Congress national president
Sonia Gandhi to appear before the court on August 3 in connection with a petition filed by a local Congress leader challenging the disciplinary action taken against him by the party. The court has ordered to send summons to KPCC president K Sudhakaran and Kollam DCC president P Rajendra Prasad before the court on the same day.
Kundara block general secretary of the party, Prithviraj, was suspended from the party during the last Parliament electionby the then DCC president Bindu Krishna after senior Congress leader Raj Mohan Unnithan had complained against him.
The emergency summons was issued by the court on the additional plea filed by the complainant to prevent electing a representative from Kundara block for the upcoming KPCC member elections till his grievance is redressed.
He also told the court that he was not served any suspension order and he came to know about it through media. The request sent by him to the party to reconsider the decision by stating that he has not received the order was also ignored. Following this, legal notices were issued to Sonia Gandhi and the presidents of KPCC and DCC but there was no response.
Prithviraj approached the court by submitting a copy of the party guidelines for electing and suspending a member.
He pleaded that his suspension was a naked violation of the guidelines of the party.
